Brand videos may look effortless on screen, but they’re built on thoughtful strategy and creative intention.
This case study pulls back the curtain on how GurlCo Media approached Black Paper Party’s Nile Noel campaign with story, joy, and purpose at the center.
The Challenge
Madia Willis, Co-founder/ CEO of Black Paper Party, came to GurlCo Media with a clear intention: to introduce their new collection, Nile Noel, in a way that felt elevated, joyful, and unmistakably them. This wasn’t about a standard holiday promo—it was about translating the heart of the brand on screen.
She also expressed a desire to be more visible in the content herself, sharing more of her story and presence with the Black Paper Party community. The challenge became twofold: create a cinematic product-forward campaign and authentically spotlight the founder behind the brand, without either competing for attention.

What We Did — Strategy & Video Production
Strategy
With the Nile Noel collection launching during the holiday season, we anchored the creative direction around Christmas as a feeling—not just a date on the calendar. The goal was to evoke warmth, celebration, and nostalgia while keeping the visuals modern and elevated.
We designed the campaign to:
- Center the story around holiday joy and togetherness
- Intentionally include Madia on camera and voiceover to strengthen the founder-to-community connection
- Create a visual world that felt immersive, celebratory, and deeply aligned with Black Paper Party’s brand identity
- Ensure every moment can live beyond the holidays through thoughtful framing and repurposable edits
Video Production
To bring the vision to life, we transformed a working studio space into a Christmas wonderland, layering intentional styling, movement, and energy into every frame.
Production included:
- A 30-second cinematic hero promo set in a holiday-inspired environment
- Styled product shots highlighting the Nile Noel wrapping paper as part of the décor and experience
- Founder-forward moments featuring Madia naturally engaging within the space
- High-energy lifestyle footage that captured joy in motion
- BTS and foundation footage are designed to support future marketing needs
The space transformation increased production value while reducing location costs, demonstrating GurlCo Media’s ability to deliver cinematic results within smart, strategic budgets. The result was a festive yet refined visual story—where product, founder, and season moved together seamlessly.

The Outcome
Black Paper Party received a cohesive set of assets that felt festive, premium, and culturally resonant:
- A hero video that served as the creative centerpiece of their holiday campaign
- Short-form clips optimized for social media
- Visuals that told a story, not just a sale
The campaign didn’t just show wrapping paper—it showed what it feels like to gather, celebrate, and give with intention.

The Result
The final video positioned Black Paper Party as more than a stationery brand—it reinforced them as a community-centered, joy-driven lifestyle brand. With intentional, product-driven visuals and flexible edits, the content continues to support Black Paper Party’s marketing beyond the holiday season—proving the long-term value of investing in story-first production.
